Background & Experience

I have a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of North Carolina (UNC), with a concentration in child and adolescent development and disability.

In 2008, I completed training and an internship in clinical hypnosis with pain specialist Ron Eslinger, RN, CRNA, APN, MA, BCH, CI and opened my private practice.  I have worked with thousands of clients since then, and I also train and certify new hypnotherapists, which I have done since 2011.

From 2015-2018 l held an appointment as an adjunct assistant professor at University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, running a clinic for patients with dental anxiety.

Since 2015, I have also worked regularly with children and adolescents with functional gastrointestinal disorders referred to me by their doctors. In functional disorders, there is no underlying medical condition that can be identified, and often the cause of the physical symptoms is emotional or psychological. began applying the Human Givens framework to these young patients, as well as teaching them relaxation techniques and using guided imagery with beneficial suggestions for change. Some of my patients got better in just a single session! Others needed a few more sessions to see a significant improvement.
